Default some 930 production numbers

Found this on Pelican...don't know how accurate, but thought I'd post it for reference:
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showt...threadid=62344

From "Original porsche 911 " by Peter Morgan:

Numbers built:
1987

930 ROW Coupe/Targa/Cabriolet = 720/69/142
930 Can Coupe/Targa/Cabriolet = 88
930 US Coupe/Targa/Cabriolet = 1605/87/183
930 US Slantnose = 200

1988

930 ROW Coupe/Targa/Cabriolet = 677/136/242
930 ROW Slantnose = 18
930 US Coupe/Targa/Cabriolet = 701/141/591
930 US Slantnose = 278

1989

930 ROW Coupe/Targa/Cabriolet = 857/115/244
930 ROW Slantnose = 32
930 US Coupe/Targa/Cabriolet = 639/109/600
930 US Slantnose = 147

and from a different source (the Red Book):
1978
Turbo RoW = 735
Turbo Japan = 61
Turbo US = 461

1979
Turbo RoW = 820
Turbo Japan = 32
Turbo US = 1200

Quiet thread but I have checked the production of the 1989 930 RoW Cabriolet yesterday and came to another conclusion.

The last car's VIN ends with 244 indeed, but the first one wasn't 0001 but 0061. So 184 cars were produced, and not 244.
I suppose the same applies to the others figures.

Keep in mind that the US cars first 10 VIN's get crashed tested so those cars are never sold

Semi-related-unrelated topic but Ive been thinking about putting together a 930 registry web site that encompasses all years and really build it out the way it should be with historical archives and documentation. There is a 3.0 liter registry and then a couple others that are old and withered on the vine. Id create a site where you can upload your own information, photos, details, etc and maintain it -- perhaps even sell your 930. I have quite a bit of historical 930 information in terms of color codes, options, pricing, ads, marketing/promotional photos, posters, etc for USA cars I could also add to the site. I would not want this to be PCA related -- my days of doing work with the PCA toadies are long over. But USA/ROW cars would be welcome. You would be able to sort cars by VIN, color, location, configuration (coupe, cab, targa, slant) among a lot of other functionalities.

Sort of a long-term project but Im a web site builder/marketer and could probably legitimize the time and expense if the interest and traffic was there to put some ads on it from the various 930-supportive dealers, resellers, parts companies. Could even put a forum on it. I have enough hobbies and "freebie" projects as it is. It would have to pay for itself.

There is so much misinformation out there about these cars. The infamous internal memo on the number of slantnose cars produced being one of them. We need a site to really cut the BS out and put the facts back into things.

Not sure how much help I could provide but I'd lend a hand .

Real numbers on colors and options of each years production would really be something.

The earlier cars and turbos varied with the first production number. The 78-79 IIRC started at 011 sometime in the 80's vin numbers started at 061 which has lead to many official counts being incorrect. Porsche address this in their second classic car parts catalog.

If you want accurate numbers the best reference for turbos I have found is Gabriel and Franz's book on turbos. There are some minor errors but for the most part they break it down better than anyone.

As far as 1981 MY production they show 741 total. 548 broken out to several countries 110 RHD and 53 Canadian.

Quick Reply: some 930 production numbers
