Default Anyone replace the stock steel A/C bracket with a Carrera bracket?

I'd like to change to an aluminum Carrera A/C bracket in place of the steel original bracket if it'll fit. I can don't mind making some modifications, but I'm trying to avoid fabricating a whole new aluminum bracket.

It's actually pretty light. I'm removing it not for weight savings but to unclutter things a bit. My B&B exhaust hanger bolts to the front of it.

That looks much better than the steel set up. I don't suppose you want to sell it?

That looks different than what I've seen on the Carreras. Can anyone confirm that?

Sorry, I'm keeping it for now. Not sure what I'll end up doing about a/c in the future.

I understand, I'd keep it too. I Checked the PET and it looks like the bracket is the same for the later 930 and the Carrera. Only the top plate is different. I called Parts Heaven and they said the had one. I'll let ya'll know how it turns out.

I have the same bracket as Sandy on my '89 too.

I've got the Carrera bracket and I've got some questions. The bolt pattern from the A/C compressor bracket to the motor console (that's what they call the bracket that mounts on the back of the engine) is different. Also the way the compressor mounts seems to be different. I've posted some pics of both brackets. Sand_man, could you post some pics of how the compressor mounts. TIA.

I think the compressor bolts to the bracket from the top w/ 4 long bolts. Is there four bolt holes in the to of the adj bracket ears?

You can see from this pic when I took my engine out, the adj bracket is still mounted to the compressor.

That's what I was afraid of. Sounds like I need another compressor. Probably needed it anyway. At least I can put that off for a few months. I do need to get the bracket on since I'm planning to mount one of the intercooler mounts on it. Hopefully I can find a Carrera motor console as easy as I found the bracket.

This raises another question: is the top of the compressor higher than the engine fan? This could affect intercooler location.

David, I just did some accurate measurements and the highest point on the compressor body is 1/4 higher than the top of the fan housing. The pulley though is 5/8 higher than the compressor body, so a total of 7/8" higher than the fan housing. My first thought was to lower the compressor as there is quite a bit of room between the compressor body and the bracket, but I realized that space was there because the back of the compressor over hangs the intake manifold and there is less than a 1/4" clearance there
