Default My first 930...

...but not my first Porsche. This will be my 8th, by way of a 356, 912, (2) 964s, and (3) 993...but never a 930, the original! So, I have an idea what to look for when buying.

I now have a choice should I decide on a 930...I need some opinions.

So, I come to you, the experts with the dreaded "How much is it worth" thread. Well, having read scores of these, I do not expect anyone to give me a figure as a strong PPI will determine condition and robust service records will provide the history.

So, assuming the PPI checks out and there are adequate records of consistent maintenance, how would you value these 2 cars.

1) 1989 Cabriolet, Granite Green/Tan (formally Palamino I would guess), 43K miles. 2 owner

2) 1989 Silver/Black coupe with 20K miles. 2 owner

If you are willing and adventurous enough to offer some actual prices, fantastic. But some musing on the pros and cons of each car AND, if the condition (cosmetic and mechical) were the same, what car is worth more? I am particularly interested to know your thought on the color. I love Silver. I also really like the Granite Green, but I am color blind, so I really need your thoughts on the GG as I will sell this car one day and want to know the general consensus

I am a complete newbie to the 930 and welcome any and all feedback. I have the PPIs scheduled this week (Mon and maybe Wed) so your responses are much appreciated...

I will attempt to add a picture of the GG car...

Here is the Silver car...some of you may know this car...Sloan Cars has this for sale.

One more fact, the Granite Green spent most of it's life in my hometown (SF Bay Area) while the Silver car is in CT. I have seen and will drive the GG on Monday. The silver would be purchased blind...

Well, I'm a strong believer in coupes over Cabs, but that's just my opinion. IF the history and maintenance is there I'd probably go for the Cab in this case though. My personal opinion, but these cars, in order to maintain any semblence of day-to-day reliability, need to be driven. Even if just warmed up by driving around the block a few times on a weekly basis. Hoses, belts, seals and all that rotating and oil lubed need to be warmed up and moved as does the fluids. I used to believe a lower-mileage car was better, but now, I think a car driven an average number of miles per year is better. Before you buy either one get a good PPI done. Won't guarantee you won't have issues, but it will tell what you working from as a point of departure.

Thank you all...I just found a 98 993 cab yesterday, deal done! I will have a 930 as some point, but the 993 is like an old friend.

Personally I'd never buy a car from Sloan do a search on him. I used to have a granite green targa, nice color... good luck with the new cab
