Info on a 87 930 Slantnose
Hi All,
I'm looking at purchasing a 87 930 Slantnose. I have not looked at the car yet and things about it are not too clear at this point. The VIN is WP0JB093XHS051596. I was told it is a USA car with a factory installed slantnose option. Can this verified by the VIN? I was told a factory installed slantnose was suppose to have a 505 in the VIN, is this true? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Here's a Porsche VIN site:

Looks like the car in question is one of the last that year. However, as WERK-I pointed out, you won't see the slant option in the VIN.

A service writer at your Porsche dealer can bring up the VIN in their database and tell you what options the car came with. This database also contains info about what Warranty service the car has received and if they received the info, who the previous owners were. I got this info before I bought my car.

Yes, I had a relationship with my dealer from a previous car but that shouldn't make a difference.
It also depends on the input -- gabage in, garbage out. For example I know when my car was sold new, what dealer sold it, and who bought it. Also who the second owner was, but the guy I bought it from was not in the records.
The database also provided the list of options and codes that was substantially complete and a list of seven or eight items serviced under warranty -- no regular service, just warranty work.
It's definitely better than nothing. At least it proved my car was genuine. I suspect this info is used when you request a Letter of Authenticity but I could be wrong.
