No it's not me but my Ruf trained mechanic(technical engineer), trained in Germany Porsche and Ruf for 3 years each. He has also rebuilt 934,935 engines in Germany and is very meticulous in his workmanship.

GREAT PICTURES!!!! I can't wait to tear into my engine! I've been planning it since I purchased the car. I probably won't start on it any time soon, as my first goal will be to purchase a sufficent "beater car" for me to drive while my 930 is down. And anyway, I think there's a lot of life left on my current engine.

sand_man,
Make sure you take your time and know your goals before tearing in. Things like fasterners, nirisist, racing valve srings, titanium retainers etc etc are the stuff you wanna look into now.

Just in time for my 87 930 rebuild. Great pics. Depending on how the engine looks during tear down, I'm trying to keep things in perspective and budget.

What kind of headers are those? I just picked up one from Albert and they look similar

I'm planning to put in 964 cams from John Dougherty and he will also clean up the rockers. Currently have a K27 11/11, Andial IC, Borla 4 tip, adj. BC set at 1 bar, K&N, Alcohol Injection.

I know there's a lot on the board about what do to "while you're in there", but what are the "have to dos" that are relatively cheap (i.e., racing springs, port polish, anything under $200-300 per items?)

NSXTC,
They are B&B 1 5/8inch headers without heat exchangers. While your in there I'd change to ARP headstuds and conrod bolts, racing valve springs with titanium retainers, niresist depends on you. I personally feel that if your going above or close to 700bhp than you'd wanna Niresist, otherwise the ARP stuff is good enough.

Sameer,

I'll be happy if I get somewhere in the hood of 400 or so with the above mods. I'll definitely look into chaning out the things you've mentioned above and going the ARP route.

Just took my 930 out for a drive this morning. The engine idles beautifully and plenty of power. Just an annonying leak somewhere in the front (breather seal I hope?). So I'm dropping the engine to clean things up a bit. But while I'm in there...sigh

Only 40K on the odo. There goes the "If it ain't broke" saying.
