oh, I run 1.2 bar of boost, the mph and times in the 1/4 were all made running a .7 bar spring. so it'll probably run a little faster then that but I'm too lazy to find out cause the curves are more fun.

I found a RUF 5 speed for CDN$3500 but then I had to rebuild it... It's a 930 4 speed with a 915 1st gear hanging out the end. I have to be careful not to get on it too hard in 1st because the 915 1st just can't take the torque. On the track it's a lot nicer. Gearing could be a bit shorter. 5th is the same as the 930 4th so it's still a bit tall for the track. It's still big and clunky. It's still a 930...

Pete, If memory serves, redline on a stock 930 gbox is over 200 MPH. So if you're at redline in 4th near 150, somehow it has been lowered.
Just a guess since I have not looked at the gearing charts in years...

According to Bruce Andersons book.
The Ruf has all different castings than those used in the Porsche 4 speed. The differential housing has a shorter bell housing like the 935.The center section is a special casting that provides support for the reverse gear.
The advantage was that 1st gear was lower for faster acceleration and the remaining four gears were closer ratio to stay on boost. The 930 gears are interchangable for 2nd through 5th.
The Ruf 5 speed was expensive at the time, between $15 - 18K and is fairly rare to see used ones for sale.
Ruf did indeed us their own castings for the case, and a eclectic set of gears, for example 1st gear is from a 924 turbo. The hardest part in maintaining these transmissions is identifying part numbers.

Petes car is really cool. I saw it here at the Taj Show before he moved. The thing really rips! It just gets me more pumped about doing some go-fast stuff to my own.

well I guess it looks like its gonna stay a 4 spd untill I can find the right deal on a Ruf tranny. 15-18k is a lil steep for one extra cog to run through. UD thanks for the compliment, Hopefully I'll be back in Dayton after school. untill then I'm stuck down here in NC. Great roads, great weather, but its just not home.
