Default Tire size on 17 inch wheels

I know there were some discussions about tire sizes in this forum but I cannot find them. I have a 87 930 Slantnose with Ruf wheels size 17×9 and 17x10. How wide can I go without interference with the fenders? Ruf recommends 225/45 and 255/40. I currently have 235/45 and 255/45.

Are you going for a specific look?

I'm running 17x8.5 235/45 in the front and, with my current offset, if I go any bigger, I'll definitely rub.

Just trying to fill up the wheel well. I'm running 235s in the front currently. What are you running in the back?

I'm running BBS 17's on my 1982 930 with Michelin Pilot Sport 225/45ZR17's up front and 255/40ZR17's on the rear.

Ruf suggested the same. I just like to go a little wider in the back without rubbing the fenders.

Thank you. I have 17×10s in the back. Wondering how wide of a tire I can have in the back.

I would do 235/40 front and 275/35 rear

I have 275/35 on a 10" wide wheel on my 951. Fits really well on that size wheel
