Default Faster 930 on Rennlist??

Who could it be? Post any pertinent information.

The best I know about is that 700+ HP Black/Black 1989 930 with those crazy videos. Who is the most powerful?

Tito,
I agree I have yet to dyno my car. You know Joe Essa the engine builder. I live in St Petersburg area and it is hard to find good Porsche people here as well as some one with a dyno. I plan on taking my car back to Ft Lauderdale soon now that Essa Tech has a dyno. I have only used a G-tech meter for hp numbers at 15psi boost it showed 594hp at the wheels. not a dyno and and your correct that would be 698hp at 15psi. I can easily go to 18 or 19 psi. I want to dyno my car only to do additional tunning and will be glad to post when I get it done. Maybe we can find some where to compare the two cars when I get to the east coast.

What size are your engines? My new engine is now finished and Dyno'ed. Its only a 3.2L, so I'm lacking displacement. I agree, the numbers are always touted quicker than the Dyno sheet appear. I'll post some pics and the dyno sheets tomorrow if I can get them. What are you guy's doing for oil cooling? These big HP engines in a 930 Chassis's have Oil Temp problems don't they? Fitting Oil coolers to these cars is not easy. What have you guy's fitted? I'll take some pics of what I have done to help the cooling.

I have no doubt that your monster engine is way out there, and in no means I was directly talking about you, I know that car has to be very close to 700rwhp, my point is that for some reason in the Porsche community I always heard of many people talking about 700,800hp but yet every time I ask I never get any dyno sheets why do I ask for dyno sheets ? ONLY because it be very interesting to compare others against mine only for the purpose of own knolege, with that on mine we could share ideas and get even more hp as we all know this hp route is a very lonely road and very few people will unconditionally will help you.

So please take no offense.......

My new engine is now finished and Dyno'ed. Its only a 3.2L, so I'm lacking displacement.

Mine is also a 3.2 liter so far so good if gods willing Saturdays we will dyno her once more and see what we have, we think we be borderline either very high 700s or low 800s rwhp

What are you guy's doing for oil cooling?

One of the many secrets that people wont tell you.........in my case the rods bearings and pistons are all coated, people dont think that this staff works, well I got news, not only works it works very good, I recently open the engine after 3500 hard miles on her, 92 dyno runs,30+ 1/4 mile passes and countless street races, we open her to assure that we will be safe for the big jump and we were impress, the inside look like it was build yesterday, so the coatings and 500 mile oil changes intervals are working for me....

I am still running the factory oil cooler and the temps are just great

These big HP engines in a 930

But where are they ?

Tito,
I was not taking offence. It is difficult to get information about these engines when they build them. Most builders feel if they put the time and research into getting the hp and reliability they do not want to share the info. I am running the stock cooler and have actually seen the temps go down compared to stock. I am building my car to run with Chin motorsports or the porsche club at Sebring. I am sure that is where a oil cooler would be a benefit because in short 1/4 mile runs the temp does not climb. I only see it start to climb when I sit In Florida traffic in the summer and then it is lower than when it was stock. I would like to meet with you if I get to the east coast. Who does your dyno runs? Good luck with your new engine. M42racer I am running 3.4 p&c. purchased from Andial.

The dyno runs I ussually do at a small dyno shop, is call carteck here in Ft.Lauderdale, I know the boys overthere and they treat me very good, when I have the money I trailer her to Sarasota to Fast Foward Motor Sports and we usually spend the weekend at the dyno, problem on that one is that it requiares to trailer her, hotel etc, but on that dyno we can tweak her real good, and yes if you ever come this way give me a buzz

I found the stock cooling inadequate on a high HP 930 engine. I went to a front mounted oil cooler plumbed inline with the stock cooler which keeps the temps well below 210 degrees while on the track in the middle of the summer.

My first engine had over 15k track (road course) miles, and when I took it apart after 6 years everything looked very, very fresh. Based on that, I'm not sure you need the coatings, nor do you need to cross drill the crank as long as you are under 7500-8000rpm.

My 650hp@1bar dyno sheet has been posted on Rennlist numerous times. 1.2bar might approach 700hp, but for what I do, it really isn't necessary.

Tito,

I will take you up on giving you a call if I get to the east coast. Could you give me Fast Forward Motor Sports phone number. It would be a short ride for me. Who would be the contact.

Whoa,

These numbers are huge. A 962C 3.2L 4 Valve Twin Turbo water cooled engine run on an engine dyno at 1.2b manifold pressure will make around 650HP @ 7000 RPM and at 8000 RPM around 765 HP. These heads flow way more than any 2 Valve Head with any size Valves you care to put in and they are over 9.0 comp. ratio to boot.

You guys have got something right. Well done!

If I may add something told to me. There is nothing that can be done to these older 2V engines that has not been done before. So, the idea that some engine builders do not want to share info in the hope that any new secret info may leak out is a little silly. Its usually because they do not measure up to what they say they can do, or to what others have already and actually achieved. Ask the builders who have actually done it. They will tell you, no problem. Most are building the new water cooled engines now, so these older engines are in their past. Its that old Dyno sheet thing again I think.
