Default Taking an 88 back to stock question

Considering buying my friends 1988 Turbo . Previous owner did some mods : Garrett turbo, Kokein intercooler,
200 cell race cat, muffler but did not keep the stock parts. Is it difficult to source the OEM parts to take it back to stock ? I love the way it drives now so would probably just collect the parts over time .

I just got through a multiyear process doing the same thing. Do you know if it still has the stock cams and CIS fuel head? You can't tell from just looking. Parts are out there but it's just not a question of putting the parts back on and voila! Plan on spending 7-8 grand even if you stay out of the inside of the motor.

And even though he's a friend get a PPI. Heat is the enemy of these cars and if not managed correctly while modded it can have detrimental effects to engine life.

I have all the original stock parts on my 88, but only keeping them for emergency in case I have to sell and the next owner wants them. After feeling the difference in power, response, and decreased lag, I could never talk myself into putting them back on no matter what the market says I should do. The ponies are just too addictive.

It’s true that a 930 stock is underwhelming
