Question Adjustable Sway Bars -

I had my 930 at the track on Friday and noticed a little body roll in the rear and a little push in the front on turn in. So we are thinking of getting adjustable sway bars to dial this out as much as possible. Do any of you have adjustable sways installed? If so, can you share your experiences with me? Thanks.

I have the TRG bars, they work great.

John - are you able to dial out the issues I mentioned above? We primarily drive our 87 Carrera on the track and that car has much more neutral handling (less weight hanging out there in the rear). I would love for our 930 to feel that way.

I have Smart Racing bars on my car and they provide enough adjustability to get a good neutral hanling with proper torsion bars. The nice thing about these bars is all the hardware is metric so you don't have to remember to bring US wrenches to the track.

I have the Weltmeisters. They work, but are not the quality of Smart Racing or some of the others.

Adj is easy.

If you are pushing you would want to loosen up your front bar and/or tighten your rear bar IIRC.

They have a lot of adjustment. My car doesn't roll, it just doesn't. As for push at turn in, I can't really speak to that. My car doesn't do it and you also may be able to use the brakes a bit to shift weight forward to improve the steering.

John - I looked at the TRG website and they do not show adjustable sway bars listed?

According to the Smart Racing set-up sequence

1) Car has push
a) Turn in - soften front anti-roll bar
b) Turn exit - stiffen rear anti-roll bar

2) Car has oversteer
a) Turn in - stiffen front anti-roll bar
b) Turn exit - soften rear anti-roll bar

About to install TRG sway bars in my 930. Will be interesting to see if I can correct 1a) on my car.

It doesn't say but they are adjustable.

John - how is your ride on the street? Is it easy to switch settings from street to track. This car is mostly street.

It isn't really the sway bars that impact street driving. Rather it is the torsion bars and shocks. Mine are as stiff as any would want to go (www.my930.com) on the street. I am working on making them a bit softer after a couple of years with the setup. It isn't so bad really, just trying to see if the wife will get back in the car.

As for adjusting the sway bars, that is easy and only takes a couple of minutes. You can do it in between DE runs easy enough.

I have a Bilstein coil over suspension - so no torsion bars. My current spring rates are about ideal for street and track stuff. Thanks for the feedback on the TRG sway bars -

I put the Windward Sways in. The adjustability is easy and noticable. Good price as well

All right guys - I just installed the rear bars. One thing about TRG bars is they do not give you instructions. In any case, the rear appears to run right along the transmission mount and it looks like there could be some contact here. Is this an issue? Also, I am not sure how to adjust these - obviously if I shorten the drop links I can pull the outer "wings" up or vice versa. There is maybe half an inch of play that you can move the adjustment nuts without changing drop link length.
