Default Ever seen this on a stock 930 shifter?

After having trouble shifting into reverse, I started digging into the shifter and saw this.
The light gray material is not grease. It is hard glue.
Has anyone seen this from the factory?
The car is relatively new to me. So, I am guessing this is some sort of fix from a prior owner or shop.
But, thought I would check the 930 collective first.
Thanks

Looks like it may have had a short shift modification.

Hmmm. Feels like standard long throw, but will investigate.
I am probably just going to put in a Wevo anyway.
Thanks

That is JB Weld. Shifter probably came loose in that area....(which they do because it happen to me in my 85 Carrera)...so instead of getting a new one, the previous owner epoxied it with jb weld.
