Default Which Tire For My Turbo Cabriolet Flachbau?

Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 or Yokohama ADVAN Neova AD07? Fronts are 225/45 ZR17, rear 255/40 ZR17.

Hi Bob, I think you'll like the Michelin tire better.

It's very odd, the car has been in a number of books, magazines and newspapers but I never kept any pictures. I will ask one of the photographers if he could give me a jpeg.

Robert, judging from some of your other cars that I have seen pictures of I assume that this is a genuine Flachbau rather than a run of the mill slant nose. Really look forward to catching a glimpse.

Bob, I remember seeing a picture of your black convertible somewhere.

Yes, it is genuine. Indeed, a few months ago, speaking with my friend, Rolf Sprenger, now retired, but long time head of Porsche's Special Works Department (a part of which is what is now called the Exclusive Department), Herr Sprenger remembered being interviewed for a magazine:

"In May 1990, the car was completed. The build sheet ran 32 pages....Sprenger recalled it all two years later. "He had so many special options and so many special things. My people really came in trouble. There was a lot of testing, engines, tires, suspensions, a great deal of testing....It is not something we would ever do again."

Sonder Alptraum. Special Nightmare.

But when it was finished, before it was shipped, Herr Rolf Sprenger and his colleagues took a last look. The special wish which had become a private nightmare had finally become the Porsche dream car-come-true. It was the most and the best of everything they'd ever imagined. Sonderwunsch. Sonder Alptraum.

Traumwagen in Wirklichkeit. Dream car in reality.

More than 300 individual pieces were covered in leather. More than 500 non-standard pieces were fitted. More than 200 pieces were custom fabricated."

And, in fact, I still know almost every person at the factory who worked on that car -- the last Turbo Cabriolet Flachbau ever made. In fact, a few years ago, upon the retirement of Herr Sprenger, a group of us got together and all still remembered fondly this car. And, now, sadly, two of them, Elmar Willrett and Max Friedmacher, have died.

I love my Yokos. Are we saying 82 not 8200 or 82000? This is a story for Speed Channel. It beats the Last Stingray hands down. Good Luck, PS I join the chorus for PICS
