That site has partially inaccurate numbers. For example, there were 1200 ‘79 930s, not 200.

Phil, thanks for that confirmation once again regarding the Vins .
I have VIN#12 with a production date of 9/77, Petrol Blue in color, it is believed to be the 1st US production 78 930 according to Barth.

Don’t you mean 461, not 641 for 1978 US 930s? And I think your numbers are off for ‘79s as well.

Yes good catch! However, as far as the 79's go, the assumption is the previous posted numbers being accurate the 78's were then subtracted from the overall data provided.I personally don't keep track of 79s, unless it has something to do with a specific serial number

Many of the sites have inaccurate numbers, and some seem to be obvious typos, as opposed to factual inaccuracies. I find it interesting that some even come close, considering that Porsche, the manufacturer who built the cars, often times gets it incorrect and provides inaccurate information and/or numbers. However, its not that big of deal.. as they are just cars, or as the factory looks at it now and when these were produced.. just units. Albeit, there information collection/data base is a lot more accurate than it used to be.

Any idea of grey import numbers 81-85 into USA from the experts please? Rough guess?
