Shifter Bushing Replacement
I just thought I'd share that I replaced my shifter bushings this weekend.
If your shifter has a decent amount of play in it, I'd recommend replacing the bushings. Mine had quite a bit of play, and after replacing the bushings, the shifter is much more solid, and the shifts are much more crisp.
Not "precise" I would say, but much better.
I'm not sure that "preciseness" is achieveable with a factory linkage and shifter...
Anyway, thought I'd share. Fairly inexpensive, approx $22 for the bushings, and well worth the effort in my opinion, if your shifter is feeling sloppy.
Just my .02.

Brian,
If you want to take out all slop from the shifter back to the trans. do what I did. Replace the shift coupler with the smart racing one or the WEVO, then get a 930 WEVO shifter also a shorter shift and very nice. As always the problem is money.

Brent - Tell me if you think what you did would help the following. Shifter goes into gear and can be moved about while in gear almost like it would if you shook it back and forth while it was in neutral. When I pull it into gear it seems to wander into place. It's not awful, but I would like to get it a little tighter feeling. What do you think?

No, its pretty straightforward.
Trickiest part is disassembling the console and moving it out of the way so you can lif the shifter out.
The other somewhat difficult part is there is a 4mm allen set screw that holds the bushing cup to the linkage, its just kind of hard to get to, you may have to modify your allen wrench a little to position it so you can get the set screw out.
Other than that, an uneventful procedure.
I'm happy with mine. I'd like to get the WEVO unit, but choices like that always come down to deciding whether to spend the money on track time, or upgrades...
I always select Track Time... Instant gratification...

WEVO is always nice but price is always an issue with these cars. So, the bushing is located on the very bottom of the shifter. I'm also swtiching to a short shift kit.

There are 2 bushings for the shifter:
1. Ball Cup Bushing
2. The other one is on the linkage guide bracket - not sure of the name of this bushing.
