Default Need pricing help...selling Dad's 1979 930

Guys...need some advice on pricing..

I have been given that task of selling dad's 1979 930...He is the original owner having bought this car from Bill Van Porches back in 1979..I remember picking the car up with him when I was 11 like it was yesterday..Car is Artic silver over black. Approx original 58,072 miles on car..on the 85mph speedo. Serviced at andial. Car has larger turbo and intercooler, stainless headers and AC compressor upgrade otherwise bone stock.

Never crashed etc.. Very clean, 1 owner car that has been in the family since new. Car was a weekend driver over the years. With literally only 45K miles on it up until about 10 years ago when Dad started driving it again to keep things moving.

Any thoughts on price? Anyone interested PM me. Need to get Vin from Dad and some photos.

VIN#9309800774

Thanks

Tracy

Tracy please post up some pics, and details of modifications.
Are the take - off parts going with the car upon the sale?
I'll guesstimate $85,000 to whatever the buyer+ seller meet at !
If you don't need the $$$ you should keep her in the Family.
These only appreciate in value.

Valuation will determined by details such as- is car original paint and overall condition- it's worth a lot of money so be careful. I had someone trying to sell me a 930 yesterday they didn't even own- they forwarded me some pics and description- it turns out I know owner.

Hi Tracy I would be interested in seeing some pics. These vehicles are somewhat variable in price depending on condition, upkeep, etc. Where is the car?

Falcon, how long have you owned your 79 930? Any particular maintenance issues, like having to rebuild the engine at a certain point?

Tracy,

I do not believe VIN#9309800774 would have an 85 MPH Speedometer. Did your Dad swap it out at sometime? It will be an important point for establishing value.

Car is in So Cal...85mph speedo was stock and required by law in 1979.

Tracy,

The 85 MPH speedo was a federal requirement starting in 9/79. What is build date on VIN sticker, it is unusual to find the 85 MPH still installed especially in turbos, that is a nice touch. Is car for sale?

Default Build date

07/79

Mileage..58,072

Car was bought new by my father in 1979 after a trip to Europe where one blew past him on the autobahn. Not sure many people can say they are the original buyer and have all the history back to day 1.

Car is for sale..

Phil is correct your Dad’s North American 7/79 build 930 should have a 150 MPH Speedometer. The requirement imposed by the NHTSA for the 85 MPH Speedometer went into effect on September 1, 1979 which affected 9/79 builds forward, not 7/79. May need to discuss the discrepancy and how it relates to the 58K listed on the current speedometer during sale. Slightly confused as I thought you originally said 66K not 58K (see post #6)?

Any additional interior and engine pictures? Very nice looking early example! Audio system changes and wheels (minor). If it is not insured, do so for min $100K(?) to keep yourself and family covered until it sells

Default Speedo

Guys....here it is....Build date aside...Dad bought the car on Oct 10th 1979 in garden Grove ca...bill of sale shows car with 55 miles...maybe the car didn't get shipped until a few months after the build date...no idea....but I know this...The speedo in the car has NEVER been changed....its stock...end of story...

I was off on the mileage because the car is at dads house and he gave it to me off memory. Over the phone. Today I asked him for the EXACT mileage and that's when I updated the post.....

Wheels...those are stock and have been on the car since day 1...

I will get more photos next time I am over there..

Wow really nice. Serviced by Andial? Orange county/socal car. But they've been closed for a while. Dieter still is around.

If you're interested, PM me and I can direct you to a friend of mine who has a small, well known, consignment shop in costa mesa who will give you a very fair assessment of the car.

Default Speedo

I just looked at the PPI For another turbo that a friend just bought....his vin is 1 car later than mine...07/79 build like mine...he has the 85 mph speedo...

maybe Porsche figured these cars would arrive stateside after 9/1/79 and figured it would be easier to do this at the factory the retrofit in the field.
