New to this Forum and thoughts on this air cooled porsche!

Hey So i just came up on this 930 porsche for sale for 67k.

https://www.beverlyhillscarclub.com/...930-c-7436.htm

Iv been following the market and from what I see they sell for around 76-120k

Do you guys know why this one is priced so much lower? What do you think its worth?

and what makes some turbos worth so much more than others? Which years are more desireable than others?

I also saw another 911 1989 Porsche turbo asking 65k all matching numbers.
I can get pictures of it.

Do you have any recommendations on a air cooled porsche forums and where to post about cars that are for sale and get peoples thoughts on them?

Thanks for the help!

Shawn

Do some Due Diligence and Google BHCC, caveat Emptor.

From the images posted this 930 looks pretty nice compared to the usual listings from BHCC.

As the previous post states do your homework.

Interesting strut brace. Great for a 935....stupid on a street car...and the rust??? EVERYWHERE??? WTF?

Car looks to have been neglected for a decade or more. There shouldn't be ANY road grime under it....NONE. It's a Porsche Turbo, not a Prius.

Oh, and Beverly Hills Car Club is the place that would not leave me alone about my car. Buyer kept looking over my fence, knocking on my door, and would not take "get off my lawn" as a hint that I didn't want to do business with Alex. .....When I finally threw a stupid money number at their buyer they jumped and showed up with the $45,000 I figured would finally turn them away. :banghead::banghead::banghead:

awesome thanks for the feedback.

I have heard a lot of horror stories from BHCC.

Pelican parts forum was exactly what I was looking for.

I agree this car appears much better than the usual from BHCC. I see some surface rust on the underside, so maybe this car sat for awhile. But none of it appears serious; a negotiating point. Worth checking out, if this is a car you think you might want.

My .02 - If you live in CA and decide to pursue the purchase of this car, I would make sure it passes CA smog before you give BHCC any money.

If BHCC is a 'bonafide' California dealer (i.e. has a license) I think they are required to do a smog compliance test as part of the sale. I could be wrong but I think that's the case.

GL to the buyer.

Will definitely check with them if it passes smog in CA.

Do you guys know anyone or anywhere that is trust worthy and can do a PPI on air cooled porsche's in the Los Angeles or Arizona area?

Call Dave at TRE Motorsports or Marc at Redline Services. Marc is likely closer.

This one might go for cheaper... no affiliation.

@jherriott I was following that one closely. Was a great one wish i bought it!

Here is another car I saw that i was interested in and I would love your thoughts on it.

it has after market turbo, and they did a g50 tranny swap.

The car was also just repainted.

Not too sure about that one, tho... I don't think I'd kick it out of bed for eating crackers! It looks like it might be a nice driver with some needed work, so maybe the price is high? Engine looks a bit wet, but I'm no expert.

Personally, I really hate the wheel design. I am a sucker for Fuchs. Visually, 18s are too much for a 930, and probably sticking to 16s will give you some sidewall flex to help keep the traction when the turbo kicks in. I also don't get it when people swap in a G50. having tried both, I find it easy to adapt to the style of driving suited to the 4 speed. My view is that turbos like boost, and they like to stay in boost, the 4 speed gives you a lot more leg in that respect :)

Just my 2 cents, and having said that... I have let more than one 930 slip through my fingers based on others advice! hehe!! :)

If you are after a turbo you should really consult with the 911 turbo guys. Turbos require more rebuilds and may be able to add info

kingshawn1234 07-19-2017 03:01 PM

Yeah I hate the wheels. First thing I would do is change back to fuchs wheels. Thanks for the advice.
