Well i've been checking out older 911's for a while, currently i have a 997.1 S & have owned several 996's in the past...stumbled across this one which has had some NOT so nice mods done to it, however price was right, car runs/shifts good + has matching numbers on tub & windshield, but not on engine and trans (they are from an 83 SC) great undercarriage no accidents.. overall it isn't super ugly even the way it sits now..
its a 1977 911 Sunroof coupe, but somewhere along its life one of its 3 previous owners put one of those 964 kits on it with welded carrera or turbo flares i'm not sure which they are (real kit not fiberglass) this however isn't my cup of tea at all so i'll be slowly taking it back to what it should really look like. The big positive is engine / trans are from a 1983 so its 3.0 SC engine plus the interior looks great and was recently done.
I can't wait to make this thing into a true 1977 sunroof coupe -hopefully it won't take much work, i'm ordering correct era front / rear bumpers as soon as i can.
The drive is amazing on this car, so analog, i really feel connected with the car..What an amazing brand Porsche is...
She maybe a Frankenstein for now? a 77' chassis, 83 engine, 90 body kit? lol...however, she's my frankenstein & will soon be babied back to its natural state!

Matching numbers implies that it has it's original tub, tranny, and engine. Think about that.
Anyway, congratulations. The Carrera era flares are great if you decide to go down the backdate/hot rod path as it allows for wider wheels without being overly wide. SoCal is the perfect place to source everything you need. Hit me up when you decide to go full retard and I'll introduce you around.
....oh, and I've got a full set of pristine Carrera calipers and almost new vented rotors I can't seem to give away.

I am online rite now looking at converting back to a 77 or a long hood..just emailed TRE & Getty Design as well..TRE dont have the kit on their website anymore hope its not disontinued, but they do have the parts sold seperate i believe.
No hot rod style, i'd like to just make it a normal 77 or a normal long hood, but the flares i can't take those off so it will be a "bit" abnormal i guess.
I'm thinking all i need is a long hood? Signal lights? front/rear long hood era bumpers, fuchs wheels, and thats it? doubt its that simple lol..

The last longhood was a '73 so taking it back to a '77 would allow you to keep the hood you've got. Google G body.
Much easier conversion. ...and you don't need to bother with buying parts from TRE or Getty. Everything you need is at my buddies place in Huntington Beach. We can probably find half the parts in my side yard..LOLzzz.
Now get some sleep. It's three in the morning.

Thanks everyone- just taken to my Porsche mechanic to get tuned up and figure some little issues it has out- takes few cranks to start sometimes, died once while driving- feels fuel starved...can't wait to have it back all tuned, oil changed, maybe new fuel pump etc..Then onto bringing it back to a 77
