verify engine number faster than COA?
I am trying to verify an engine number for a 72 911e Targa. I would rather not wait 4-6 weeks for the COA. Is there another way?
I referenced that the engine is from a 72 already and it appears original.
Thanks for your help

perhaps my post was confusing. I have a 72 and I want to verify the engine is original to the chassis. Certificate of authenticity takes 4-6 weeks to get from Porsche. Is there another way to verify the engine number?

The ONLY way to match a car's VIN to the powertrains's serial numbers is with Porsche's database. The old Kardex system or its replacement, the COA is it.

I believe if you are the owner you can call Porsche COA and they will confirm over the phone verbally(no cost) At least you will know if the engine came in the car from the factory.
Then if you want a coa you can still order it. Have read people do that a lot on early911sregistry.org....which is a good early 911 site for more info on your 72

thanks guys. I spoke with them today (Porsche NA) and they said they will confirm or deny if the engine serial number is correct.
