Great Story and glad you got your car (and memories ) back. Too bad you don't have the time. With the car in NH a great laid back road trip is picking up 26 in ME and taking it across the Canadian border at Canaan. You'd make the boarder patrols week with a 74 911. Then west across Ontario to MI and then west. My wife and I did this 2 years ago

Very cool story. We all have that 1 or 2 or more cars we regret selling.... I hope you post a lot of pictures once it is back in your driveway. We love happy endings.

Terry
some great roads in Western Maine and NH for sure. The frost heaves are tough but the scenery is fantastic. Thx for recommendation- may need to try that.

And S I will finish the story as it unfolds.

Great for you getting your old car back! It looks great, too. I sold a '74 455 Trans Am (Super Duty) after high school and spent years looking for another. Finally found a "close" match, just no SD engine. I've spent a lot on it, and it has a lot more power than my stock one ever did- but it's not the same car. Congratualtions!

Hello all - resurrecting this old thread as it took this long to finally get my old car back home but it was well worth the wait. It frankly was in better shape than I remembered. Completely original car, the original undercoating in place, original paint and all the records including mine from 15 years ago still with the car. The seller was very good to me and carefully packed all the extra stuff the car came with like the old A/C system, a box of filters and other parts, etc with the car. He also shipped independently the original tool kit and jack as he didn't want to trust the truck driver. I had it delivered to my local shop and they changed out the fluids, new front brakes (calipers and rotors) etc. I had to put new tires on as the ones that came with the car looked a lot like the ones I bought 16 years ago.... The car had traveled just under 10K miles since I sold it so really not much at all. Finally got it back last weekend and as requested here it is next to my 996 TT and one in my driveway on a beautiful summer day.

You and I should start a club of cool guys who have a 74 targa and a 996tt. Exclusive club to say the least!

Hi Rick that would be awesome - I like to think I'm a cool guy anyway. We certainly have cool cars.
