My RSR build
6 Attachment(s)
I've been on Ferrarichat for the last 10 years posting photos of my Ferrari Dino restorations. I decided I needed a change of pace, so I bought 2 1973 911T's to do RSR tributes. I going to keep one and sell one. I've always owned a 911 since 1970 so I love Porches but have never done a restoration on one. I thought I would post pictures of the progress and hoping I can get help and advice. I have stripped one car of parts and I'll finish the other one on Monday. Then it's getting all the old undercoat off so it can go to media blast. I have a small shop in Escondido right next to Autos International the Porsche interior experts.

I can't wait to see the progress.

So this is what I'm thinking so far. RSR steel flares, fiberglass front and rear bumper, ducktail, aluminum hood, center fill fuel tank. I'm thinking 9' and 11" x15' Braid wheels with Michelin TB 15 Tires I think 18 and 23. With 15" wheels I'm thinking 930 calipers, Bilstein struts, Bilstein sport shocks front and rear. I want to use a later aluminum trailing arm, but dont know if they are interchangeable. Rothsport 3.5 motor about 350HP, wevo shifter, an SC 915 gear box. Thats the basics I'm thinking. Is there anyone in San Diego or Orange county who can help me with all the suspension pieces? has anyone dealt with Road and Race in LA?

Jae Lee at Mirage can help with suspension, the Al trailing arm are interchangeable - steel replica's of RSR trailing arms are available, just depends how serious you want to get. Tarret builds nice RSR replica sways. I had a 3.5 twin plug in my RSR replica - killer motor.

http://www.maxilite-wheels.com/index...galery/porsche http://shop.maxilite-wheels.com/en/felgen/mx1110015m Einmalig has gaylords full of the trailing arms you are looking for. Well, I took the last front calipers, but they have piles of rears... Every last plated nut and bolt you are looking for can be found there. They are 10x that Road and Race place. Every builder in SoCal shops there. Once you have all the OE type parts sourced you need to call Clint at Rebel S Racing for all the goodies. He's got everything. Much of my suspension was sourced there. You are also going to want to get to know Dave from TRE. They have far more than their website shows. |
HOILY CHIT!!!!! Why am I directing you towards less expensive sources when you have this kind of cash? :banghead: I'm up for adoption, btw...

exciting!
I still need to build a RS and a RSR to get it out of my system. :) |
Jon, looking forward to the progress! 3.5 .... Nice! Can I put my name in now for you to do me one after you finish the first 2?

You could always just stack money on your rear deck and then set it on fire.
Same idea. :) Richard Newton FIA Historic Rules |
Very cool, have fun and good luck!
Do you have a link to your Dino restorations? I've found a couple threads on there that were full of great little restoration tricks. -Andrew |
