1979 Porsche 935-JLP
Rennlisters,
I recently purchased a 1979 911sc which was converted to a 935-JLP by John Paul Racing. This was John Paul Jr's personal car, and came with all the documentation to prove it. What I understand is that JP Jr. & Sr. had a business where they cosmetically modified customer's 911s into 935s. The rest of the car (interior, engine) is a clean low mileage stock 911sc.
From the brief research I've done, the Pauls made 3 of these before getting into some legal trouble. This was the final and last one made ( and only 3.0 I believe).
Does anyone have any additional info about this car or any other of these 935 projects taken on by the Pauls?

Interesting. Hope the story turns out to be true. Otherwise you just have a stock SC with a tribute body kit.
I know John Paul Jr won a bunch of races but did he race for Martini?

@Amberlamps...so the car was not meant to be raced by John Paul Jr. and to the best of my knowledge, you're correct the Pauls never raced under Martini. This car was made by the Pauls for clients who wanted the 935 look but a daily driver. They made 3 of these cars and this was the final one. The image shows an Ad from June 1982 showing the Pauls advertising these cars to their clients.

Cool. Somewhere is an old photo of me in a similar car circa 1987 that I've always thought was almost a DP935, but not quite.
Too bad the Pauls funded their racing efforts with drug money.
What are your plans for the car? .....and how the heck did you find it? I'd kill for something that unique. What state are you in?
This must be number two:

I live in Southern CA. A local business owner, and car enthusiast, had this car and about 13 others parked in his warehouse. He drove it about 200 miles a year and kept it garaged and well maintained. I was driving by and saw this car parked outside and thought I'd take a look at it. One week later I was driving it home!!!
Not sure what the plan for it is. I have owned a 996 Turbo, 964 c4, and 993 targa in the past and always like to have one Porsche in the garage.
I have been asked if I have plans to sell it in the future, but I'm not even sure what the value would be?

I have a friend who still has his 935 that he used to race. I'll ask him what he knows about this John Paul car... btw, He may be selling his 935 as well if you are interested.

I recently found out that in 2006 the car was in the Pebble Beach auction and estimate was up to 75k. It did not meet the asking price then. But with the Porsche values climbing like a pro it's value should be beyond that 75k. At least I hope so!

LOL....No problem. That does explain why it looks like there is a stock fender /wstock headlight bucket in the first picture. Nobody has ever in the history of all the interwebs made that mistake.
