Default Middie 911 vs 911S

Is a 74 straight 911 much slower than a 74 911S?

Yessir, but only in the upper speed ranges. 0-60 is surprisingly close due to torque spread differences in these engines.

I have a 77 S....More of a dune buggy looking project car that has a 3.6 waiting to go in.. I did not realise that there was a difference in engines for the S during the "mid years".

It is nice to see the interest in these cars escalating. They are all the more beautiful with the absence of flares and thin wheels.

Only in '74; after that, all 911's got the same engine (CA cars were de-rated due to emission control differences).
