Default Need help with 1989 G50 Convertible Power Top

So my dad bought himself a 1989 Convertible that's going to sit in my garage for a few weeks until I can ship it to Europe.

I'm going through the car bit by bit to see how everything is working and I'm having some issues with the power top. I turn the key to lock position 1 and then press the switch and the right side lifts up for about 1 second then stops. If I let go of the switch and press it again it works for another second then stops. Repeat process it works 1-2 more seconds and finally stops altogether.

I can see the mechanism/gearing or whatever it is above the windshield moving about (on the right side) but then it doesn't do anything more.

Thanks!

Just for clarification. Are you starting with the top in the closed/latched position?
The mechaniism above the windhield; Are you referring to the latch that secures the top to the windshield? Is the left latch working?

I figured it out, I guess maybe the key wasn't turned all the way enough. It's just odd that it would partially work.

Thanks for the help!
