Default Clutch Helper Spring Replaced But Clutch Pedal On The Floor

I just replaced the helper spring on my 82 911sc. Everything went well, but when I was reassembling everything, I moved the clutch cable to the side and heard what I now think was the clutch pedal hitting the floor. Now I have way too much cable to connect throw out arm.

The cable is still connected at the pedal, everything looks in good shape. I found a post where someone mentioned putting a wrench behind the pedal during adjustment (not mentioned in the 101 book)

What am I missing. The car wasn't moving, so I've go to believe something is disconnected somewhere...

it's possible to install the omega spring, and have it pop 180 degrees out. I don't have a photo handy, but the body of the spring should almost rub on the heat exchanger. Otherwise, the cable either broke or came undone, likely at the pedal end.

This is how it should look . Sounds like you may have stripped out the clevis pin at the other end. i hope you put both adjustments to the max before putting on the spring . then you can take up the slack at either end during your adjustments.

Thanks for the replies. I turns out that I didn't have the helper spring close enough to the heat exchanger. That along with putting a block behind the clutch pedal solved that issue. My current issue is how to get the helper spring back on the pin. I just can seem to find the right combination of screw driver, pry bar and support to get it on. Any advice?

Will try the vice grips tomorrow. With the comments about just using a large screw driver, I'm thinking I'm doing something wrong, but can't figure out what. Perhaps just not holding my mouth in the correct position...

I used my bench vise and an impack socket (maybe 15mm) and kept tightening until I could get the cir clip back on. It was really, really tight could not have done on the car.

My apologies for not posting the solution.

Rather than using a vise or hose clamp etc. You just don't load the spring and then connect. Put the whole thing together with the spring unloaded and then use a long screwdriver to pop it in place. It was so simple and easy I was embarrassed by my other strong-arm tactics that failed.
