Default Driving w/ Trickle charger?

As we all know, it's not easy to bolt and unbolt the charger on the terminals. I've lost a nut / bolt or two in the past. Is it safe to drive w/ the charger still connected or can it catch fire, etc? Here is a pic of my unit.

I have Ctek and Diehard maintainers and they all have quick disconnects. No problem driving with the cord connected to the battery.

My Battery Tender plugs in to leads connected to the battery. So, it stays out of the car.

I have a electrical safety switch from my club racing days that I switch off when the car is going to sit for a while. Works great.

I used to have a tender that plugged into a quick disconnect that was hardwired to the battery terminals. Now I have clock delete and have gone months without a charge and she starts right up.

I've been using Battery Tender brand trickle chargers on my cars and motorcycles for decades and my batteries seem to last 10-14 years each.
