How often do you need to drive a 85-89 Carrera
I was wondering how often a 1987 Carerra needs to be driven to keep it in good condition mechanically.
Thank you,

My 911 sits for months on end without being started or driven. I imagine that has been the case most of its life. Its strictly a cool weather road trip car. Even after 14 months of teardown and mods she fired right up like nothing ever happened. Fantastic machines.

Mine runs like a top every time I drive it but it gets crazy hot here in Chico, CA, so I don't drive it all that much in the summer. Just want to make sure there are no problems, other than less fun, with not driving it much. Sometimes, the battery gets low or dead….

Isn't there a 12-step program for garage queens?
Seriously, I have found that if I exercise mine once a week, no oil reaches the garage floor. Only once a month and there will be 1-2 drops.
If you leave it more than a couple of weeks, either hook it up to a Battery Tender or just disconnect the battery. Longer than couple of months, put some Sta-Bil in the gas tank.

I installed a battery disconnect switch... less than $10 and no wiring involved (it clamps on to the battery post just like the negative cable would, and the cable clamps onto the switch). Super simple, super effective.

Except during the summer, I drive mine 3x a week at least; during the summer, only during early mornings or later evenings but 1-2x per week even then. 911's dont like to sit in the garage. You will have far more issues from non-use than too much use(at least until u miss a shift or hit a deer on that early morning run).
