MTX makes rock solid amps. I have variuos a/d/s, alpine, and hifonix amps.
Hifonix makes good quailty at a moderate price, and I can also highly recommend DEI (Directed, not Ernhardt) amps. I have a 5 channel that was very resonable, and it continues to impress.
a/d/s makes high quality amps, but I think that they are overrated. On the other hand all 3 of my vehicles have a/d/s highs to midbass. IMHO people get way too hung up on the name of their amps. If you want to compare sound then its all about the speakers. (as long as they have enough good clean power)
