Brake Package Selection
Debating on brake options:
Big Reds or Boxter calipers?
Will use the car mostly on the street with minor track events.
3.6 Varioram engine.
Then what pads should I use?

here are some brake torque #s F, R, ratio all at 70bar line pressure
SC 1444 969 1.491
Boxster f/r 1815 1130 1.607
Boxster f/3.2 C r 1815 1132 1.534
930 f/r 1961 1242 1.579
993 on 930 rotors f/r 2230 1419 1.572
993RS on 993RS rotors f/r 2306 1618 1.426
for track use its advisable to shift some to the rear, the lower the ratio the more rear
On both of my cars I have 993RS for the '76 w/ 3.6 street it's overkill but at least I should never have to buy rotors or pads for it again, for the 993Cup clone track car it's just about perfect

JMO but you might as well keep the stock brakes or maybe change the fronts to 3.2 Carrera as use the Boxsters. The issue is that 911 brakes run hot stock, make the car faster and they run hotter. To deal w/ hotter brakes you use better fluid, SRF, Motul, Prospeed, Endless etc and better pads w/ better thermal breaks in them, Pagid 29 is my favorite but there are other good choices too. Add as much cooling as you can and this will often get you to where you need to be. The issue w/ Boxster calipers is that they only use 3.2 Carrera rotors and then put even more heat into them exacerbating the heat problem. Yes you get more brake torque but that is not usually a problem to begin w/

How do you plan to use the car?

Little slow at the moment. Ordered body parts and waiting for them to show up. I got lucky because I found a roller with no rust and turbo flares. Just need to do the modifications for the front mounted oil cooler and install front and rear bumpers. We will also fit the seats and make mods before the car goes out for paint.

Take your time and have fun. The journey is usually more memorable than the destination.
