CA Vehicle Registration/Stars Program
This in from Pelican member looking for original air cleaner for 930:
"The new Stars program has now supplied a picture of what the air cleaner for a 78 930 is suppost to look like." This fellow is looking to install original a part that was claimed modified in 2000.
Testing entities are now being very thorough on vehicle "originality" in CA.
My '88 Carrera passed recently and am able to compare notes going back to 2009.
2009: Inspection Reason: High Emitter Profile:
15mph: max HC-121, CO-.76, NO-807. 25mph: max HC-96, CO-.65, NO-746
2011 Inspection Reason: Biennial
15mph: max HC-85, CO-0.54, NO-565. 25mph: max HC-67, CO-.45, NO-522
2013 Inspection Reason: High Emitter Profile
Same criteria as 20011.
Note that the state has tightened up their values for pass/no pass. This is an issue that all 911 owners in CA need to be aware of, not just the 930 crowd, so I post here.
Apologies to the rest of the forum for CA local issues but being informed is a necessity.
