'88 Coupe Stolen SF Bay Area 4-28-13
Friend just passed this along (seemingly getting more common, unfortunately):
Posting for a friend. Police told him he has no chance of getting it back.
Stolen from Serramonte Shopping Center yesterday
1988 black on black coupe with a whale tail. Fuchs rims, 7’s and 8’s, black centers.
CA LIC# 4SQR026. VIN WPDAB0911JS121295

Sorry to hear that, of course. Do you know why the police said he'd never get it back? Do cars like this get shipped overseas right away?

Ken,
Any possibility of getting more info from the "stollee"? Day/nite? Suspected slim Jim/hot wire? Had the car been there for 5 mins or 5 hrs? This one hit pretty close to home.
Thanx,
Richard

Caught this post in the beginning. Thought the Peninsula was safe for a usual outing! Hope no damage done to the car, but curious (as above) on method of access and removal from the parking lot. When I got my '88 six years ago, the key for the alarm switch in the driver's door was broken off (in the switch), but a trip to P.H. in Hayward sourced a replacement switch minus a key. Local locksmith fitted a new key for $$$ but have never activated the alarm. Wonder if this option would of been a deterrent?

Put a switch on your DME relay. That will keep it from firing, but as pointed out above all a thief needs now is a set of dollies and a tow truck.

Someone in a rollback took a friends car from a busy shopping center parking lot. Authorities suspect several people walked by while it was taking place!!
Thiefs are lazy and don't necessarily care if it will start... they just pick it up and take it and let the hack shop figure out how to get in it.
