Default 87 911 G-50 Short shift kit

Ok 88/89 911 had factory short shift kit as option, not 87 as far as I can find. Finally either porsche either put togteher a kit or I found a dealer that had access to the Porsche kit for my 87. Its 91142493100. (Brumos Porsche)

Note there has always been a 915 short shift kit. Will update as soon as tech does work and my reaction to the kit.

I can't say enough about my kit, even though a different tranny than yours. It's night and day! I bought the OEM kit from Pelican.

Hmmm, that part number appears to be for the 915 kit, according to Pelican Parts database:

Chuck, as far as I can recall the 87-89 911 Carrera 3.2 cars are identical with the same shifter and parts. The only exception is the 89 964 C4.

The only upgrade you can make to the 87-89 shifter is going with an aftermarket short shift / bushing kit.

darn, pelican parts correct. No short shift kit from porsche so it goes back. brumos spent a lot of time researching it. Only option is salvage yard.

Seriously, I don't think there is a short shift kit for '87-'89 G50 911's - factory or otherwise.

But interestingly enough, there was a short shift option from the factory for the G50. My '88 CE has it. It was option code 243 - "Shorter Gear Shift Lever".

ok, this is making much more sense now. The 915 shifter did get a slightly shorter throw in '86 to keep the lever from scraping the seats. By slight, I mean really slight...like not enough to justify buying the '86 parts, which is sometimes called the "factory short shift kit". A better move is to buy the Wevo shifter for the 915. I have heard good things about the Wevo G-50 shifter, but I've never tried it.

Folks, Wevo do a short shift for 87-89 3.2, I know as I've got one fitted.

Its expensive but a real quality product, makes a big pleasant difference to the gear change (30% less throw)
