Default New DuckTail

Did the fitting yesterday and am going to drive it a bit, recheck fit, before I pull it to paint it.
Doesn't look to bad in black with the way the SC is set up now. When I pulled my bumper pads there was some paint damage underneath so I used some enamel flat black (John Deere Blitz black..stuff is stout).
I plan on doing it in the body color.

Well, I took a shot on ebay and bought that one from phantomcomposites for 300 bucks. He lists one periodically. It came with Getty instructions but I have no idea if that is the maker. Figured for that money I could take a shot and fix up anything needing done. Very well packaged and out of California.
All I did was a bit of sanding around the forward seam near the window ( as per the Getty inst they said all will need some fitting there) and some right rear near the tail light.
A few spacers on the fwd bolts and it lined up well. I still want a straighter line across the rear but will fettle that later after it sets for a bit.

I have one of these, can't beat it if you want a good fit & OEM look.

Glad your eBay duck worked out, I have seen many (including from reputable Glass companies) that the fit was so bad that it cost more than the cost of the tail to make work, but still not fit "right", only Getty have a seen a consistently good quality duck.

Those look great and are the top end way to go but wanted to keep my stock deck lid and, big and, do it inexpensively. All of the labor is 'me' so it'll cost me whatever the paint costs and the $300.
The fit is actually very good, some what surprised as it can be a crap shoot buying unseen.

I have an Mashaw ducktail on my '83 SC it took me less than a hour from the time I took it out of the box until it was properly installed. Of course then it came off to be painted. I really like the ducktail and would like to put one on my 997. Enjoy

Me too, here is an early Stratton tail on my beloved SC (I'll never get rid of this car)

Nice pics, I like the 911 script where you put it on that DT...
I'm loving it already.
I've never worked with FG before but talked to a pro paint guy and he rec that I let it 'mature' for as long as I can stand it so the resins etc settle. So I'm going to flat black it for awhile and let it do whatever FG does.

Looks great !

Much better than paying for a botched up used one for $300 plus shipping and fixing.

I was about to place an order but bidding ended. hopefully it is back up again.

Does the tail have threaded inserts for the bolts?

Yes, bolted right up and the same for the latch.
The only thing that takes some time is getting the proper height at the fwd hinges. The factory lid had two washers stacked forward on the first bolt each side so I started there but had to use dif thickness to get it to lay properly.
It took a minimum of sanding the edges to get the desired fit.
Still have not painted it yet, spending my money on that 930-10 I'll pick up next month.
