I just found out the car produced the fastest time of the day at the RallyCross this past weekend. Scott was driving not me but it's still very gratifying; it was faster than all the heavily modified Subarus and other well developed cars.

As the car was still on the trailer Tuesday morning we decided to drop it off at Thompson Racing Fabrication to get some "Porsche Protection" installed. That's skid plates and oil cooler system shields in English.

Their almost completed rally Lancer in the background is amazing.

Despite spending $10 of my life savings and the best part of an hour of my life at the local power wash the underside still looked like this when we got it on the hoist.

Still, it's a lot cleaner then the floor of the power wash bay I used. Wont be invited back there again.

Stuff keeps showing for the car. Wish I had time to install it all. Yesterday pedals, foot rest and a throttle pedal lifter from Pelican.

Today some rubber floor mats. I was going to get racing red but bottled out and got safe grey instead.

I'll post pictures of Ryan's handywork when we get the car back next week.

Have a great weekend.

Hey, how do you guys clean the engine after all of the mud, specifically under the shroud area, cam tower pockets and oil radiator?

Only the underside of the engine is getting dirty. I just hit it with the powerwasher with the car on the ground or better still on the trailer. Later, on the hoist, I'll get into the nooks and crannies with a air wand. Seems to work.

Jack, at Stuttgart SW in Phx told me how he cleans dirty 911's before rebuilds. He goes toa car wash and when fully warm blocks the pedal to hold it running at 2k rpm. Sprays a water soluable soap directly into the fan followed by the hot spray wand (lots of water and don't allow the soap to dry). Does this till clean water runs out of the bottom.
I passed that on before and it freaked some of the guys on the site but it works well and he's never has an alternator issue (in business 30 plus years).
I live on a dirt road and it keeps my oil cooler/heds clean as a whistle. Just don't wear a tie and lean over the motor.

Some images are emerging from the University of Thompson Racing Fabrication

Front skid plate

Oil tank armor

Oil cooler protection

Oil line shielding

I can't wait to see the harness bar he is creating.

Love it, though the oil cooler needs to breath a bit more than that.

I do wonder about that. We can always make the holes bigger but not smaller.

And, I guess we can take the shield off if it starts to get hot during an event.

Picked the car from Ryan Thompson today and found this gorgeous custom harness bar in the back. Better and cheaper than Sparco. Perhaps yYou should get one.

and the MOMO steering wheel hub arrived.

Now I have the car back I really should bolt some of these goodies on it.
