Default Recommend cost effective Street Pad for 996 / Boxster S / Caymen S Calipers

Guys,

I've got 996 NA brakes on my '87 Carrera. I've been running pads that are too aggressive / noisy for the street, and I'd like to get something more appropriate for driving around town. Could anyone recommend a cost-effective set of street pads? It looks like Mintex pads come up a lot, but as far as I can tell, Fronts aren't available anywhere right now.

That leaves Textar, ATE and Original Porsche pads, which are PRICEY! Do either Textar or ATE stand out as a better pad?

Thanks!

I've had excellent results with Hawk HPS pads on several street-only cars.

They stop well, are easy on the rotors and create minimum brake dust.

With that said, regarding brake pads, brands of oil, versions of Porsches, car wax and guitar amplifiers, there are a myriad of opinions online as to what is "best".

Porterfield R4S. Great pads, low dust, work for DE's, and don't need heat to grab.

R4S - do not use for track days - STREET ONLY. The S is for street, there have been incidents using these on track.... :-/

I like Textar - plays well with track compounds/Pagids when swapping.

I'd like to know what incidents were happening? I found them to be good on the track, but I also was over braked, in that I was not running stock brakes. Certainly, they were not worse than using a number of pads on stock calipers.

The request was for street pads anyway, my answer stands.

Thanks Jack i was looking at these for my Audi .. loks like they will be fine for that application as the brake dust is just driving me nuts on the OEM Audi pads.

Yep R4S for street is fine so yeah sure that stands. But you use them on track.... failure is the rule with them on track. Too many conversations over 9 years with those that have, too many problems mistaking the 'S' for sport or track or whatever....not a track pad. Trying to help, not a dual purpose pad.
