One thing about used fuel cells: the rubber bladder liner and foam do not last more than 3-4 years and should be replaced to prevent fuel system contamination and blockages. You should price these items before buying any used fuel cell.
Yes thanks for the input. I thought of the bladder replacement but never looked further. That would be a kick in the pants if it brought the price up to a nicer larger tank.....

AS for the weight issue. Yeah I keep wondering about getting fiberglass front fenders, cutting out the battery boxes and the only thing lighter in the back would be the fiberglass bumper...

If you end up with a hot motor, and carbs, 12 gal ain't much.

try it, it may work for you

but, the only real complaint I have about our 996 is the small 16 gallon tank (even fixing the IMS & RMS was no big deal, but that small gas tank is a PIA to live with!)

The fuel mileage in a 996 is going to be a lot higher than what Ed will be seeing. We can easily run a 100 mile loop in the back country out here, without a lot of fueling options on the way.

my point exactly, I can't even make a run to Nepenthes and back without stopping for a fill up
