oil level too high?

Default oil level too high?

First post... i have an 06 carrera s and the oil indicator showed to be low 2 bars... i added a quart and now indicator shows level to be too high. maybe a 1/2 quart high... cant get to shop until monday. is it ok to drive?

well you are lost...this is 911 forum - you drive a 997 so you might try and post over there .....

BUT

I would like to advise you to run your car at the 1/2 way or below oil level... I have seen more than my share of issues caused from overfilling and not many at all from a little under filling. So many times drivers want to be sure everything is "perfect" but on these cars perfect is a little low...keep in mind that you have almost 3 gallons of oil and when it gets hot it expands

A LOT !!

if you remove your oil filter only, you will loose about 1/2 QT - start it, and if needed do it again....its simple and can be done without any real special mechanical skills or tools (just a filter wrench bought from nearest auto parts store)

2 bars low is not a qt, you have to have no bars showing

Hey Ed, just for clarification I think we should stress that he should re-install the oil filter before starting. Plus the usual disclaimers.
