Default Options to covering up cracked dash

The dash on my 911 SC has cracks and I’m considering getting a dash cover, but the only ones I’ve found online seem to be the carpet version which I’m not crazy about…does anyone know if anyone makes these covers in other materials?

I’m also wondering if I should just go with a full “cap” instead of a cover, but my mechanic told me they never fit right and will squeak, anyone have any firsthand experience with these?

Thanks!

My 82 has a thin hard plastic dash cap. It looks great i thought it was factory for quite a while till i saw the old white leather underneeth a corner. I have no idea who made it or if they still do

I used the dash recover kit from World Upholstry and the dash is like new. I have no upholstery experience and took my time. It didn't turn out perfect but I'm the only one who can tell where the imperfections are. I had an cracked dash and had been using a carpet toupee. I'm glad to be free of that thing....

I, too, found that "toupee" of no use!!!

Man, a factory dash is WAY expensive!!!!!!!!! Am (too) looking at some options on a redo..

Best!

I have the cheap, thin plastic cover and I like it. It glues on, no squeaking.

I just had my 928 dash redone by Rob Budd --

holly cow -- that things looks incredible!

brand new would not be a good enough compliment.

I had some left over alcantara that I cut in the shape of the dash (the top section, not the edge or the gauge bump). You could use vinyl or some other fabric which can be purchased at JoAnn Fabrics or wherever. It looks pretty good and a hell of a lot better than the carpet covers. Plus, inexpensive. I really just tried it for kicks, not thinking it would work but I was pleased enough to leave it there, at least for now. I broke my camera or I would post pictures. Maybe when my new camera comes I'll post.

How hard is it to pull a dash pad on an '87? Do you have to remove the windshield?
