Quick question, what flares are these?
2 Attachment(s)
Trying to figure out these flares. I like the look of the rear. I'm assuming there's no flare in front? Thanks for the help!

look to me like RS flares, thus the RS rear bumper. Early cars do look good with a "standard" front valence as opposed to an S spoiler. The wide 16", brushed aluminium fuchs sans the center caps means business, and that car is getting pretty low. Looks bad-ass in my opinion.

RS or SC, who's got the eagle eye to tell? I suppose I could go into the trailer and look at the '73 shell.
When did the last of the OE RS flares disappear? |
I like it.

I was assuming they were RS flares because an SC has impact bumpers? I didn't want to ask and seem stupid, lol.

On the coupe? Yeah if you can do that it would be great!
So OE and replicas are a world apart? What irked me on any of the 930 replica flares I used to use was the inconsistency. Amazingly, this guy out of San Diego (Vista, actually) had a brother-in-law with a sheetmetal factory down in Mexico, and their knockoff slope fender and turbo flares were actually pretty good. The LA stuff? Not so much. So if I was doing a car to order I'd always convince the guy to use OE. I believe all the SC flares (in reality, the '74-5 Carrera, Carrera 3.0, SC, '84-'89 Carrera, '90-'94 964 profile) were OE. Of course the '87-9 and 964 units were different in the torsion bar hole area (nonexistent for 964, and you probably needed to buy a whole 964 quarter). |

There is a flare in front on that car compared to '68 and earlier. '68 and earlier had just a tiny lip at the fender. '69 started the familiar flared profile that continued to '89.

The RS flares have a different profile for sure. The commonly used "SC" flare always stands out as it has a distinct (to me) flat/vertical lip. The difference is subtle and the angle of the car posted leaves a bit of speculation on the table. Some have been known to modify SC flares to resemble RS flares.
Steel is the only way to go if welded properly. |
Really shows how a lower car looks more agressive too.

I vote that they are ST flares.
