More parts showed up yesterday. Rebel Racing triangulated strut brace. SPEC front mono ball cartridges.

Need to keep going on the body so I can get these parts installed.....

Only problem is I've been working on that bus at the same time.

As for project #2 The Turtle, I had the engine out to change the doghouse oil cooler and adjust the valves. Took about 1 hour to get that motor out it was quite easy really. New exhaust and (definitely not new) rear bumper installed. Also reupholstered the front seats and 1/2 of the back seat, tuned the carburetor.

Also was battling an electrical issue where the bus wouldn't start when hot.... chased the grounding wire, starter, then looked at the battery, come to find out it was from an electric wheelchair.....LOL

My younger daughter asked if that's why the bus is so slow..... changed the battery and refreshed the connections and it fires right up every time now.

Hello Ed: Yes, you CAN love inanimate objects!!

That is some great hardware!

I know you are planning to reinforce the shock support for the coil overs and I see you have a triangulated strut brace. Are you thinking of strengthening the sills to increase the torsional stiffness through the center of the car? If I were putting stiff suspension on a Targa, I would seriously consider that (unless you are going to a full cage), especially since you have the shell stripped down.

I am sure you have a good plan, I'm just throwing my $0.02 (Canadian, so it's really only $0.018!)

Thanks! Yes I'm going to box in the sills, haven't figured what kind of design but have a concept! Let's just see if my imagination can actually be completed.....

Now we're talking!

I would think that the sills would be plenty strong, but the suspension points and torsion tube would need strengthening first.

Love the go-fast parts!

Sweet Doug, I'll let you know.

Anyways, finally I'm 90% away from the biggest nemisis, that front left clip. Honestly, this was the issue that made me stop for a while. Every time I looked at that gaping hole left in the clip I found another excuse.....

So I'm only a few welds away from completing the gas tank support. I stopped since my damn wrists are aching like heck (thanks Leukemia/chemo). The left clip was basically hammered together, a small portion was kept to help with the curvature of the hood, but basically everything 2" behind the battery boxes was hand made.... I'm glad it's basically over.

I have two more spots of body work to deal with, then it's going to be building the frame up for the stouter suspension.... I'm thinking to hand build the roll cage or just stiffen up the sheet metal around the critical points..... we'll see where that goes.
