'82 SC Unassembled $6500 - KC area

Is it worth buying one disassembled? I've not looked at it but it is interesting.

1982 Porsche 911 Project Car with 140k miles. The car is completely disassembled and ready for media blasting, body work and paint. The engine runs strong and would make a great foundation for a rock-solid performance engine. I will be selling within two weeks to the highest offer. If you are interested in rebuilding a classic car, make an offer. I have include a picture of the car prior to disassembly. I do not have current pictures of the parts as the car is in storage. I will take some next time I am at the storage facility. If you are interested in a project, this are is for you. If you want a daily driver today, keep looking. Please include you telephone number if you are making an offer or have questions.

if you can do all the work yourself and are mechanically inclined... perhaps...

If you have to pay someone by the hour... then no...

there are shells all over the place for sub $1k, if you are going to do all that work my advice is to start REALLY low and pick up stuff as you go, chances are you will end up doing all the same things either way so to jump in at $6500 seems a tad much - just my .02

How much free time do you have? A lot?

What's your time worth? A little?

Could be sweet deal if the above two criteria are met.

I've been eyeballing this and have the funds. It is supposedly an entire car that was running (most scs I see selling for $12k+. The chassis can be brought over and put in a rotisserie to get prepped and painted pretty cheaply I'd assume (not a lot of prep work to be done). Don't know why I'm considering this but I've no Porsche to play with at home (keep my car at a shop now). Hmmm - Don't know yet.

Completely disassembled = missing a bunch of parts you will be collecting for a long while, ask me how I know :)

Price is high by a couple grand even if it is 100% complete IMO, too many unknowns.

At $4k I'd have to look real hard.
