How to tell a 915 has LSD w/o touching it??

Question How to tell a 915 has LSD w/o touching it??

Is there a way to tell from the serial numbers of a 915 has LSD or not? I am looking at buying one long distance and all I have is the number...

Hi Michael:

There is no sure way besides having somebody rotate one sides' drive axles and observing the opposite side for direction.

Opposite rotation = open differential
Same direction rotation = LSD

Hello

This is a Casing #

The trany # will show the type and the type will show if LSD came with the factory.
However sometimes tranys got rebuilt or upgraded so they only way to go sure is the obouve.
