How many people correct others when they mispronounce Porsche?

I believe it's Hyundai like Sunday, I think they even tried to make an ad out of it.
What about Chevrolet? Would you correct someone who didn't know who pronounced it Chevro-let?
It's "Porscha" for me...just correct a colleague this morning and don't feel like a *****. Some just never knew and doesn't hurt to spread the word :-)

People have a difficult time saying "Isuzu". They pronounce it Eee-zuu-suu. I actually thought Joe Eezusuu was a parody of the company name, but it wasn't.
I think the only time I'd probably feel like correcting someone is if they called my 911 a "P-Car". That just makes my skin crawl. I think it's glib. I hope I'm not offending anyone out there, but I hate that label.

So on the way home after buying my car in Ohio, I stop in for gas in Cambridge, Ont before landing at my brother-in-law's place for the night. Older guy at the till looks out when I come in to pay and asks me what I'm driving....
Now in the build up to buying my car, I read alot of Rennlist and Pelican, and was aware of the stigma attached to the capital offence of pronouncing the name incorrectly. Still, I thought I would sound dorky saying Por-SHA - because, like many of you, I'd spent the last 15-20 years calling it a Porsh.
So I say to the guy, "It's an 85 Porsh"......
....I'd love to have seen the expression on MY face when the guy says to me, "If you're gonna drive that car, the least you can do is say it right - it's POR-SHA!!"
Needless to say, I was a bit surprised.
I find the only time I can pronounce it with the two sylables is if it's tied to another word....like a Porsha 911. Otherwise, it's one syllable for me!

It's the guys name, its pronounced however he said it, so I believe its pronounced Por-sha.

I knew a girl named Cindy Heuer once. She said it's pronounce "Hoy-er". So I call the watches Hoy-er now too but I don't know if that's right.
How do you guys pronounce Ruf?
I know a guy with the last name Brekke. He says "Breh-Kee", so I say the same. Even though in the back of my mind I suspect it's "Breh-kuh". Cause we don't say "Por-shee" ya know.

I'm of the camp that this ISN'T a German/English question, it is someone's name, and there is only one way to pronounce it correctly. Having said that, I use the pronounciation to determine who is of the "poor unwashed masses" and who is of the "illuminati". I won't correct anyone, but I make it a point to use the proper pronunciation.
When I was a teenager, it was Porsh, so I don't hold it against those not in the know.
