Default 1975 911 identification question

Hello all,

Need a bit of help. I have run into a 1975 911 that I am interested in buying but need some help identifying the original specs of the car.
The Car appears to be a Carrera. It is advertises and labeled as such, and owner claims it is an original Carrera. It has the wider (original as far as I can tell) fenders, spoiler, whale tail, etc. The car has a bit of work and upgrades done to it like the large oil cooler, 16x7/8 wheels, Weber carbs, headers, and a few others.

But here's my issue, the vin number starts with 911520xxxx, which according to my research is for a US 911S Coupe.

My question is on the authenticity of the Carrera labeling. Was there such a thing as a Carrera option for the 911S? and it it possible to have an actual real 1975 Carrera with a vin number that identifies it as an S? or can I assume this is a 911 S that someone at some point converted to a Carrera?

I'm not too familiar with the older 911s so any help of info would be greatly appreciated. I should also mention this is a US vehicle.

Cheers,
Jose M.V.

I'm sure others will be more helpful, but here in the US, the 911 models offered were different from European 911s. Are you asking if the car in question is a 210 bhp vs the 175 bhp model? If I recall, the more powerful car also had better interior trim such as the electric windows, turbo tails, and body colored mirrors, possibly headlight washers. If you have pictures, it might be good to post them, esp. the engine.

Have you tried posting on www.pelicanparts.com forum? There are a lot of guys who will know this question over there. Good luck!

P.S. if it is the "Carrera", then it is indeed more rare than the "S". If it is the "S", then in the US, it had only 165 bhp.

A Carrera would have a 4 or a 6 for the fifth digit, depending on if it was US or ROW.

VIN should be 91154xxx... if it is a '75 US carrera coupe. There are vin decoder sites that have this info.
