Why do the threads always spin out of control at the 48 hour mark? Is it a 1 page limit?

Pete. What would you use to detect vacuum leaks?

Carb cleaner is great for detecting air/vacuum leaks.

BTW, how in the world did you pass smog in CA w/o a cat? That's a feat, man! I suppose with DME it's much more likely than with CIS.

I would guess that the car would not pass the 2500 rpm dyno portion of the required test...

douglas, Seriously, your issue does not sound like a vacuum/air leak problem. I would more likely do the flap door inspection, followed by a close look at the throttle body and related parts. That said, I think that you're asking the car to do something that it's not capable of , and I would ignore it !

My car hesitated a bit as well at low RPMs. A new head temp sensor made it better. Throttle control (basically pushing the pedal down further to "push past the hesitation") cured it even more.

Then I put in a SW chip and I don't even have to think about it anymore. Revs like an SC.

First off Pete, I am here to be your student and you are asking me to wave a white flag. This is issue of the day and I want to attack it. I want to kick it around and pronounce it dead, not the other way around......

And the smog #'s ....second gear, 2500 RPM. smoke that! It was at idle that the 71 number started to creap up.

(do you know how pissed off I am that my "girl" in the office is on the phone right now yelling at Home Depot about a B_B_Q?) Write my orders!!!!!

LOL! Your comments contradict each other! Your emissions numbers prove that there is nothing wrong with your car; an air/vacuum leak would send the HC off the chart, and a sensor issue would make the CO inconsistent, and certainly out of spec. Your numbers indicate that you did a beautiful job on the fuel line/manifold reseal job, and I sure wish that I could point to a possible problem, but...

ARE YOU SAYING I'M NUTS? CONTRADICTION? I AM ALIVE. THAT ALONE IS A CONTRADICTION. AS MY HEART STOPPED, AND THE LIGHT BEGAN TO FADE, I REMAINED ALIVE. I DID NOT HOWEVER REMAIN SAINE. I WANT TO FIX MY CAR, AND I WANT TO DO IT NOW. I DON'T CARE IF IT ISN'T BROKEN!

I just talked with a Pelican Parts insider (sorry, I can't reveal my source) and I was told that douglas has placed an order for a new Pelican Parts Cat Sweater (which can double as a chamois), featuring a cat lunging at, but missing, a big, mean Pelican taking off from a local pier. The caption under the exquisitely embroidered picture is, "You think this is bad, you should see me curb walk..." Here, kitty, kitty...

for the life of me I couldn't figure out what Pete was getting at with the whole cat curbwalk thing. I sat here drawing a blank. I went out and checked my air meter and it swings very nicely. I came back in read what Draco daid and it clicked, I changed my avatar again. Don't make me put the chickens back up.

Ether or starting fluid is good for air leak checks. I call BS on the dyno numbers.....probably 33% too high.

I'm with you on the dyno numbers. Three times he ran it up in second gear and each time it said 240. It didn't say 238 one time and 242 the next. Very fishy. I don't even know how that figures into a smog check anyway.

in the morning the lower valve covers come off and the MaxHPChip goes back in. and I'm gonna scrub her belly. I found some of that Simple Green that Oshin11 went nuts over.
