911 Cargo issues
Two sorta related questions;
The first is fairly benign, anyone know of a good cargo net to use in the trunk of a 80s 911? Keep a tool kit etc up there and would like to make sure it’s not sliding around.
The second, surely to be more contentious, is anyone have or even seen a roof rack on a 80s 911? Seems like the gutter rails should work pretty well to set something up. This is really a what if, I have a big Mazda for this kinda thing, but somehow the idea of a kayak on a 911 makes me smile. Like a cow on roller-skates.

Did you just buy that car? Looks like one I saw for sale. are you going to be in the Portland area on April 12th? You should come join us for a PCA Arrive & Drive if so! (Sorry, can't help you with the cargo stuff!)
Cheers,
Paul.

I know of several people that have used some type of rack, on the "roof" of their cars. Maybe one will chime in. As far the the cargo netting, I have seen some 911 cars with and some without. I never asked where they came from. But, I can see that a quick trip to a local salvage yard, someone could probably find the net or nets they could use. I know that there were a lot of GM cars that had a net that was about 1' tall. Good luck!! Tony.

I have a net that hangs perfectly like a hammock behind the back seats. It came from the trunk of my Lincoln Mark VIII. My Infiniti has a similar net that I plan to keep when I sell it.
Someone should consider making an aftermarket net that's as good as the ones that come with luxury cars.

jesster i use a basketweave-look rubber matt.
it works pretty good - stops things slidiing around for road use with friction.
i got it in europe from a local shop but i'm sure they are available elsewhere.
hope that helps.

Just enough room for the top and when I work on or track her, I just lift the bag & carpet out

You can use a Thule on any 911 with the rain gutters on top. 65-89 should be the same deal. From the picture up above, I'd guess 90-94 is the same, too.
Here's a set of track tires on top of a 1972 with a Thule rack.

Great pix guys, thanks! I'm looking at possibly purchasing an '84 targa however I don't 'think' it has rain gutters Can anyone with a targa chime in here?
