The Carrera whale tail would be similar to the one labelled Turbo. The 3.3 Turbo tail is the classic tea tray.

I have a turbo whale tail and to be honest, I think it is a bit too large for my car. I would prefer the duck I think. I do like the clean lines of no tail though as well...like my 70 911T used to be...with it's long front and smooth sloping rear...man, I miss that car!

I like the Turbo Whale tale form the 80's and the 993 Turbo S tale (not the regualr Turbo tale but the Turbo S tale)

Definitely ducktail. Unless you have a 930 or wide body, then you gotta go with turbo whale tale. By the way, anyone with Grand Prix white duck tail for sale?

Personally I think a duck looks awsome on a widebody car as well......Just look at Jack Olsens car....I think he has posted a picture or two (hundred) on here before

What was I thinking???? 'Giantviper' thanks for reminding me, the 993 turbo tail (i won't make the S distinction) is one of my favorites. I do not consider it one of the 'classic' tails and forgot all about it.

Again, all the tails are functional and when they are on the correct year/body style car they all look attractive. Pre- 73 cars no tails allowed!! As far as wide bodies with ducktails, remember the IROCs as they were delivered..... the famous picture of all of them on the transporter, all with ducktails even though they never competed with them.

I love tail.

A complicated answer. I prefer Targas w/o tails, but I have a TurboLook Targa.

I never particularly cared for Tea Tray tails, but since having one, it has grown on me. Carrera tails are #2, but my all time favorite is the 74 RSR tail (actually, the rest of the car as well) and other early variations. Examples below.

Thanks, stormmaster and Mercedesben. I've run the stock decklid, a 964 retracting wing, an IROC wing, a ducktail and a 964RS tail with the extensions and a 60-inch wing. I like the look of the ducktail the most.

For track use, I've built a straightforward 70-inch aluminum wing that comes apart into two pieces and fits inside the trunk for the drive to and from the track. It isn't pretty, but it's significantly lighter than the stuff I'd run previously and no longer requires a decklid change for track days. Along the same lines, I have a bolt-on front splitter piece that also fits in the trunk.
