Removing air pump "spider" - any advice?
I am finally getting around to installing the Weltmeister air injection plugs on my 78. Spraying lots of PB Blaster on all six injectors, but it looks like they are easy to break off.
Do the plugs go directly into the case or do I leave the injector nipples in the case and close them off with the plugs. Any "whatever you do, don't do this..." is greatly appreciated. |
I left the injector nipples/tubes on mine and put steel caps on the top of them. If you do go that way you'll to match-up the threads to a steel cap. Others may suggest you completely remove them and install plugs in the head.

Good luck Ulrich. Mine was so rusted up I was scared to death to touch them. Iplug for the end of the injector looks good to me .

The plugs are the best approach but I found that in a pinch old Lug nuts fit perfectly over the ends of the injectors. They thread right on and lasted over 10,000 miles on my car without any issues. I eventually purchased the plugs and replaced them. The injectors are pretty solid and should remove easily.

Plugs are the best bet- I agree.
Soaking with PB Blaster, is a start ( I use Zep). I approached same as removing exhaust - heat, heat, heat is you best friend! Good luck. Earl |
