"Back dating" to the opening windows is not even close to an easy project. I've done it on 2 different 911s.
The 1st was a 74. That one was easy because the holes in the backing plates were pre-drilled and tapped from the factory (opening windows was an option in 74).
In the 84, the backing plates are still there, but the holes are not tapped, thus the project becomes infinitely more complicated.
BTW, I powder coated a chrome set and the match to the black trim is nearly perfect.
