Cone airfilter!

Cone airfilter!
Hi!
I own a 1986 Carrera 3.2 (European model 231hp) and my airfilet box is cracked and bad, and would like to fit a cone-filter instead of buying a new filter box.
What is needed to fit a cone filter?
Type ?
Is installation easy? (Bolt on)
Where to buy?
An anyone who has done this, happy or not happy?
Other views?

check performance products - www.performanceproducts.com. it may not be on the website, but I've seen it in the print catalogue. they're pretty helpful there and if you call them the can hook you up.
I think the part is $300 - $350

I don't have any experience.... but this is a link to an interesting thread on the Pelican board.

I bought one of the filters from Perf Prod and it was $150. I like the room it clears in the eng compartment. But, I went back to the stock airbox for two reasons. 1] I didn't like the vulnerability to wet. 2] The eng sound pad wore a small hole in it [make sure it has clearance].

Cone airfilter!
I have had a similar filter on my 3.2 for about 7 years. I like the added
and improved aggressive sound. I fashioned a support out of an old bike tube that has lasted since the install to keep it from bouncing around. The newer cones are much shorter. Much caution on using too much oil, cleaning it too often and not waiting for the carrier distillates to evaporate prior to use.
regards,
Steve

Sure,
Go to this page to see the 2 techniques to Kupping: the swiss cheese method or the take it all off method. It says for 964/993s, but late Carreras works too.

I went with the take it all off method. Cool sound, but I won't make any HP claims, unless of course we are trying to impress chicks. Then I get at least 10 hp.

Broadfoot has a nice little adapter with a large K&N. The adapter is a flat billet aluminum plate that bolts to the intake, has a beveled edge on the square hole and countersunk allen screws. The K&N is the largest that will fit in the area without hitting anything. Mine was less than $100 complete.
