Houston Porsche Specialist
New member here and am about to make my childhood dream of owning a 911 a reality real soon. Leaning towards the 993 but also would consider the 964 if i can find a good one. I was wondering if someone knew of a good porsche specialist in the Houston area that they trust. I need to be prepared so when I find one I like I know where I want to take it to get a PPI.
Also, how many of you have bought a 911 from a seller not in your immediate area. When I open my search to other areas of the country the selection is greater and I think finding the right 911 for me will happen sooner rather than waiting to find something that comes up near my hometown in Houston. I think if I asked the right questions, the seller was willing to do a PPI a shop of my choice and everything checked out, I would not be opposed to flying out to the seller, confirming what the PPI indicates and what the seller said and just driving the car home
Thanks
Grant

I trust blindly only 1 mechanic in the Houston area with both my 993's.
Its Mike Callas in Sealy ( about 50mph west of H-town) and his shop is called Rennsport. He is a true race mechanic with more than 30years experience in 911's... Give him a call and you cannot go wrong. Only "downside" is that due to his work load the turnaround is not as fast as a dealer but it is worth the wait.

I'll also offer up Eric Anderson at Eurocar-Werks on Gulfton at Rice Blvd. Eric maintained my 74 911 and my 79 930 and did an outstanding job. Very knowledgeable group of mechanics working for Eric and they never did me wrong in 4 years of working with them.

I second Toby's recommendation. He sent me there for a PPI (I live in NY). Eric was very helpful and detailed. The turbo he looked at for me was described as a garage queen that had never been in an accident. It was exactly the opposite and Eric told me to run. I ended up buying something closer to home because with 2 very young kids, I was not in the position to see/drive any car not close to me. The only way I would have done it, is if the car was pristine, had all records, and could get a PPI by a very trusted source. Even then, the hassle of auto transport, and paperwork was a hassle i didn't have time for. Best of luck to you, I would trust the recommendations you receive on this board.
